Dr. Yuanhang Chen, PhD, of Louisiana State University (LSU), presented an update on a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Ocean Energy Safety Institute (OESI) grant entitled, “Developing and Field-Testing a New Framework for Identifying and Integrating Leading Indicators of Offshore Loss of Well Control Events,” at the Offshore Operators Committee (OOC) 2024 General meeting. This grant is a joint effort among Intellicess, LSU, and Blade Energy Partners.

Grant recipients including Occidental Petroleum, NOV, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Louisiana State University, Texas A&M, Intellicess and several others, met in Houston on June 6th at the Oxy campus to kick off their Department of Energy Geothermal project. Dubbed “GLADE,” for Geothermal Limitless Approaches to Drilling Efficiencies, the project will be focused on dramatically increasing the Rate of Penetration in what is typically known to be extremely difficult drilling conditions.

Intellicess will be presenting the paper jointly written with Apache Corporation entitled: “Deployment of a Hybrid Machine Learning and Physics Based Drilling Advisory System at the Rig Site for ROP Optimization,” at the 2023 SPE/IADC International Drilling Conference & Exhibition, March 7-9, 2022, in Stavanger, Norway.  This session will occur March 8, 15:45-16:15.  Intellicess representatives will be on site following the presentation to discuss the paper and answer questions.

Intellicess, Inc., will be presenting key insights gained from the successful execution of an ongoing AI/ML project that started in 2015, and has generated tremendous value for the operator – Apache Corporation to date.  The title of the presentation is “Case Study Based Guidance for Effective Deployment of AI Drilling Advisory Software at a Rig Site”. Intellicess, Inc., will be presenting a paper jointly written with Apache Corporation entitled: “A Probabilistic Belief System to Track the Cleanliness of a Hole in Real-time,” at the 2021 SPE/IADC Virtual International Drilling Conference & Exhibition, March 8-12, 2021.  This session, March 10, 1700-1730, explores some of the latest advancements in the digital drilling space including a novel approach to real time management of hole cleaning using a probabilistic approach.
